Woohoo it's our first project of the year! Our "Be Mine" candy heart stamp is perfect for Valentine's/Galentine's Day cards and gifts. Don't celebrate Valentine's Day? No worries - the stamp can also be used for loved ones. This blog will cover the basics you'll need to learn for this month's activity.
First, let's start with the materials you'll need:
- Wax stamp
- Low temperature wax gun
- Sealing wax (in various colours)
- Exacto knife
- Cutting board
- Heat gun
- Paint pen (optional)
Before diving in, make sure you’ve checked out our blog on the fundamentals. If not, take a moment to review it and then come back here!
SKILL 1 | CUTTING OUT DESIGNS
- Grab your cutting board, exacto knife, and wax seal(s)
- Place the sharp end of the exacto knife on the design you want to cut out while firmly holding the wax seal with your other hand.
-
TOP TIP: For rounded designs like our Candy Hearts, try gently spinning the wax seal with your free hand while keeping the knife steady. This technique helps create a smoother, cleaner cut. Note: the video below is sped up 5x. Watch your fingers!

Once you have your designs cut out, choose the colours you want to pair together and prep the sealing wax.
SKILL 2 | TWO-COLOURED WAX SEALS
-
TOP TIP: Warm the stamp you used for your wax seals with a heat gun for about 5 seconds. (No heat gun? A candle flame or lighter works too!)
- Place the cut-out wax seal back onto the heated stamp and press down firmly so the wax adheres properly and won’t fall off during stamping.
Dispense your prepared wax and press the stamp (with the wax seal) firmly onto your project. After 10–15 seconds, lift the stamp. Voila—you now have a beautiful two-colored wax seal!

Here are some ideas for what you can do with your Candy Hearts:
